How long it is needed to boil eggs most perfectly?
There are a few different factors that can influence how long it takes to boil an egg, including the size of the egg, the altitude at which you are cooking, and personal preference for the desired level of doneness.
Here is a general guide for boiling eggs:
- Large eggs: about 12 minutes
- Medium eggs: about 11 minutes
- Small eggs: about 9 minutes
To achieve the perfect boiled egg, place the eggs in a single layer in a saucepan or pot. Add enough cold water to cover the eggs by about an inch. Place the pot over medium-high heat and bring the water to a rolling boil. Once the water is boiling, turn off the heat, cover the pot with a lid, and set a timer for the appropriate amount of time based on the size of the egg.
After the timer goes off, carefully drain the hot water from the pot and place the eggs in a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Let the eggs sit in the ice water for a few minutes before peeling and eating.
It’s a good idea to test the eggs for doneness by gently tapping them on a hard surface and then rolling them to see if they are fully cooked. If the eggs are not fully cooked, you can return them to the pot with more hot water and cook them for an additional minute or two.
