Like carbon nanotubes, it is not yet possible to manufacture diamond nanothreads in the necessary quantities or lengths, and it is not clear whether they would be able to withstand the stresses of a space elevator.
  • Other materials: Other materials that have been proposed for use in a space elevator include graphene, boron nitride nanotubes, and other advanced materials that are currently being developed. However, it is not yet clear whether any of these materials would be suitable for use in a space elevator.

In addition to the cable material, a space elevator would also need other materials for its construction, such as anchors, counterweights, and other structural components. It is not yet clear what materials would be best for these applications.
